OUR STORY
EDS UPS was established in 1983 as Engineering Data Systems, specialising in the then little-known field of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). Steven Yap took over EDS in 1989 and as managing director for the past 30 years has shaped the company into a dedicated group of engineers and technicians who know UPSs inside out.
EDS UPS has been at the forefront of uninterruptible power supplies in southern Africa, offering the most reliable rotary and static UPS systems for total power protection in African conditions.
EDS UPS is committed to service excellence and has an exceptional team of highly qualified engineers who regularly upgrade their skills with factory training in Germany and Turkey. Our technical expertise and specialised knowledge of UPS systems gives us the edge in custom designing systems to meet specific industry demands.

Legrand – specialists in electrical and digital building infrastructures – has appointed Engineering Data Systems SA (EDS UPS) as official Legrand uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems partners.
EDS UPS, with strong technical capabilities in servicing and supporting UPS systems locally and throughout Southern Africa, is now authorised to supply, install and commission single phase and three phase Legrand UPS systems.
According to Legrand, dependable tier level 1 UPS support – such as downtime responses, critical alarm remediation and the back-up of reliable spares – is an essential requirement for continued operations in many industries. Typical sectors include mining, healthcare, banking and hospitality, as well as data centres and small and medium enterprise servers.
